Your First Pain Clinic Visit
The UPC staff at the Rush Pain Center is available for:
- Consultations
- Second Opinions
- Treatment Management
- Follow-ups
As a major pain center of excellence, UPC staff work in partnership with the referring physician, to develop a plan that is best suited for you. The Rush Pain Center makes every effort to see patients as quickly as possible. Patient care is provided through a multidisciplinary program that works to provide the best care possible by drawing together specialists from many different fields to arrive at a diagnosis and develop a treatment plan for you. Your physician should refer you to us. If you need help in obtaining a referral to a primary care physician, we would be glad to assist you.

- Once You Have Made an Appointment:
Please complete New Patient Forms - This will save both you and UPC staff time and effort during your visit check-in. - If you have seen any other physicians for your pain problem, and have had any diagnostic tests, it is very important that you forward these documents to our office or bring them to your initial consultation. This will help us in evaluating your problem.
- What to expect at your first visit - It is very important that we learn as much about you as we can since the pain treatment is done best in the context of understanding you well.
- Please allow a minimum of two (2) hours for your first visit.
- At the visit, you will fill out a brief questionnaire about your pain.
- Because of the complexity of pain which often may have emotional sequelae, you may have a comprehensive medical evaluation conducted by an anesthesiologist specially trained in pain management. Some of evaluative processes that are utilized at our centers include:
- Complete History and Physical
- MRI, CT, Bone scans, and Discography
- Radiological (X-Ray) Evaluations
- Neurological Evaluations
